VIOLENCE TO WOMEN

 

Violence to women is an open wound in Turkey for years. When we say ‘’ violence’’ we only consider it as physical violence, but it is not possible to ignore mobbing, sexual violence and economic violence.

There are a lot of reasons why men use violence to women and we can divide them general reasons and personal reasons. 

             GENERAL REASONS

-       → It seems to be okay using violence to women in society

-    → Cultural beliefs, seeing violence as a tool to show the power and establish authority on.

 →  → Negative effects of media, aggrandize the macho men on the movies and Tv series.

PERSONAL REASONS 

-      →  Being not educated

-       → Lack of resolution skills

-     →   Lack of anger management

-     →   Being insecure

-      → The Feeling of exclusion and loneliness

-        → Being drug or alcohol-addicted  

It is said that physical violence is the most seen and common type of violence, but a lot of women frequently encounter the other types in their daily life, too. Mobbing is an issue women have to deal with. We can define it like things that imposed on women. ‘’Women can not work’’, ‘’Women have to get marry and give birth.’’, ‘’Women can not make a decision. Her husband, father, brothers will make the best decision for her.’’. Society does not want women to have rights. 

 

The other violence is sexual violence. Some men realize that the things they do is violence, and some do not. Even in a relationship if the woman does not want to have sexual intercourse and the man force her, it is violence. If the woman says ‘’stop’’ during the sex, the man has to stop, otherwise, it is violence.  

Physical Violence is the most common violence women suffer. It is very common, and unfortunately, this situation is getting worse day by day. Every day we wake up to a murder. Women are killed by their fathers, lovers, brothers, strangers. They rape, burn, cut and burry. There is nothing to stop them. They get good conduct abatement just because they wear a suit. They are not punished and this situation encourages the other men who are prone to violence. It is 12.10.2020 today and 361 women were murdered by men. There are more we do not know. There are millions of women who are exposed to violence. There are millions of women who have to suffer violence everywhere in their life. As a woman, I hope that everybody gets what they deserve and we do not see any murder news.
